Dear Friends,
Our Kollel's core mission – its essence – is Torah. Our fellows and I continue to learn Torah in our Beit Midrash in the merit of a Refuah Shleimah of the wounded, protection of the IDF soldiers and residents of Israel, comfort for the bereaved, return of the captives and peace for Am Yisrael.
As always, we are creating opportunities for members of our community to participate in our Torah learning, especially during this time, when Am Yisrael needs the merit of Torah desperately. Here are ways you can join our active community of learning and bring the light and strength of Torah into the world:
- Our community Beit Midrash with one-on-one Chavruta learning for men meets Monday nights from 8-10pm at KINS (Maariv at 9pm) and Sunday mornings from 9-11:30am at Or Torah. Come tonight and learn! Bring your own Chavruta or learn with one of us. To arrange a Chavruta with one of our Kollel Rabbis, please email Rabbi Moshe Spirn, our Chavruta coordinator: mspirn@torahchicago.org.
- Tefillah is a major focus during this time. We are beginning a new Chabura on Sunday mornings at Or Torah following the 8am Shacharit minyan. I will be learning the insights of Rav Kook on the Siddur from 8:35- 8:55am.
- Many of our weekly Kollel and NILI shiurim are starting this week in person and on Zoom; everyone is encouraged to join.
- Our new Torat Am Yisrael video series continues daily until the Shloshim. All video and audio are available via email, whatsapp and on our website and YouTube channel here.
- We are planning a special community wide Mishmar in the near future, so watch your emails.
- Tonight we have a communal gathering organized by Skokie Rabbis of all Jewish denominations, which we have helped organize. Specifically, our Kollel created learning packets for Jews of all backgrounds to study tonight at the event. Our fellows will be facilitating a "Beit Midrash" of Talmud Torah for all Jews on topics including the Kotel, unity, Torah and Tefillah. It will meet at the Doubletree in Skokie at 7:30pm.
May the merit of our Torah study strengthen our people in Israel and across the world.
Besurot tovot,
