Yoru Mishpatecha Launches a Nation-Wide Accelerated Choshen Mishpat Chabura for Rabbanim and Bnei Torah | The Bais HaVaad has launched Yoru Mishpatecha, a groundbreaking new program for Rabbanim, Poskim, Chavrei Kollel, and Bnei Torah to learn Choshen Mishpat at the highest level. Participants will follow a structured curriculum, join weekly Zoom chaburos led by Bais HaVaad Dayanim, and gain direct access to the kollel for guidance and discussion. Testing opportunities and Heter Hora'ah certification will be available, making this initiative an unprecedented opportunity to master the sugyos that form the foundation of Choshen Mishpat and Business Halacha. | | | Bais HaVaad Launches Five Towns and Queens Project | | The Bais HaVaad is introducing a new initiative in the Five Towns and Queens communities, bringing structured halacha programming to shuls on a rotating basis. Each week, a different shul will host a seder limud followed by a shiur on practical halacha, as well as opportunities for individual consultations, services, and adjudication. The program is designed to be community-wide, with all members invited to participate in the hosting shul's events. On legal holidays, the initiative will expand into extended morning programs in larger shuls, offering comprehensive learning and guidance in the style of a full-day Yarchei Kalla. | | | Argentina Yarchei Kallah Group Visits the Bais Havaad | | A group from Argentina, visiting Lakewood for their annual Yarchei Kallah, came to the Bais Havaad to see its wide-ranging operations. The group was given a tour of the facility, where they were shown the Kollel, the Bais Din, and the various meeting areas designed to accommodate the diverse needs of litigants and constituents.
With one of the participants serving as a translator, they discussed a variety of halachic topics and concepts with the Dayanim, including the Bais Din's protocols when proceedings must be conducted remotely via Zoom. They also addressed how the Dayanim approach situations that, at first glance, common consensus might assume to be otherwise than halacha, particularly in monetary matters, where this misconception is especially prevalent.
Bais Havaad Rabbanim Attend Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah Gathering | | Recently, Agudas Yisroel of America hosted a distinguished gathering in conjunction with the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, aimed at fostering connection and familiarity among Rabbonim. The event was held at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ.
Pictured is Rabbi Yosef Fund shlit"a, Dayan at the Bais Havaad, in conversation with Harav Elya Brudny shlit"a and Harav Lipa Geldwerth shlit"a. Also seen in the background is Rabbi Chaim Weg shlit"a, Rosh Kollel of the Bais Havaad's Kollel L'Dayanus. | | | Rabbi Waldman's 7th grade class visits the Bais Havaad | Rabbi Yossi Waldman's 7th grade class from Yeshiva Yagdil Torah, paid a special visit to the Bais Havaad, where they were warmly welcomed by Dayan Yosef Dovid Josolowsky. The talmidim were given a unique opportunity to experience the workings of a bais din from the inside, offering them a firsthand glimpse into the practical side of Torah and halachic process.
New Z'man at Kollel Zichron Gershon | | With the onset of the new z'man, Kollel Zichron Gershon's first seder continues its limud in the complex sugya of Shtaros, focusing on the halachic and legal principles of drafting all forms of documentation and gittin in a manner that is fully binding.
During second seder, the Kollel has begun the halachos of Cheskas Metaltelin, the halachos governing ownership rights over movable property, an area with direct relevance to the many disputes that arise in matters of merchandise and commerce. | The Kollel's rigorous schedule continues to prepare its members for addressing intricate and timely halachic challenges. | | | Dr. Baruch (Bert) Miller Shares Expert Perspective with Eruvin Chabura | The Eruvin Chabura was privileged to hear from Dr. Baruch (Bert) Miller, a distinguished mathematician who oversees the Baltimore Eruv. Drawing on his analytical expertise, Dr. Miller delivered a compelling presentation that included live demonstrations and a clear exposition of the views of various Rishonim, focusing particularly on the intricate sugya of tel hamislaket. The session offered a unique blend of halachic depth and technical clarity, enriching the chabura's ongoing exploration of Hilchos Eruvin.
Culminating the First Tier of Yorucha's Two-Tier Curriculum | | The Yorucha curriculum is structured with the first two years devoted to the core and most practical areas of business halacha, and the third year supplementing them with additional Choshen Mishpat topics.
The program is now drawing Year Two to a close, with the limud of Hilchos Yichud. This sugya is in fact far more relevant than it may appear at first glance, as many commonly assumed heterim are not always applicable—especially in more familiar or comfortable relationships—while at the same time, the development of modern technology carries significant implications for these halachos as well. On the threshold of the upcoming Yomim Nora'im, we welcome all to utilize this combined limud haTorah and zehirus in halacha, by forming a chabura or ordering booklets for this stand-alone topic—even for those not currently participating in the ongoing Yorucha program. | | | Rabbi Fried Speaks at Mechon L'Smicha on Building a Torah-True World | | Mechon L'Smicha, which includes in their weekly Torah publication a regular column drawn from the Yorucha curriculum, recently invited Rabbi Baruch Fried, Dayan and editor of Yorucha, to address their Yom Iyun. In his inspiring presentation, Rabbi Fried focused on the Torah ideal of derech eretz in all its expressions; refined conduct, family harmony, and meaningful engagement with the workforce. He highlighted the Torah's recognition and value of the professional layman's contribution, and the pivotal role such individuals play in shaping a world worthy of hashra'as haShechinah. Rabbi Fried encouraged participants to view their personal and professional efforts as part of a broader mission of yishuvo shel olam, urging them to live with intention, integrity, and alignment with Torah values in every facet of life. | | | A New Milestone in the Yorucha Initiative: Portuguese Edition Launched | | In a remarkable display of commitment to in-depth halacha learning, the Yorucha chabura at Beit Yaakov in Brazil, under the leadership of Rabbi Milan Chammeh, has translated the Tzedakah and Ma'aser volume 1 booklet into Portuguese. Rabbi Chammeh worked closely with the Yorucha office throughout the process. Upon completion of the translation, the booklet was reformatted to incorporate the new language, with only minor adjustments made to include the sponsors of this translation project. | | | End-of-Season Gathering for Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin Alumni Chabura | On Sunday, June 22nd, the Rabbeinu Chaim Berlin Alumni Chabura in Marine Park, Brooklyn—an established chabura that learns Yorucha throughout the year under a rotation of three dedicated maggidei shiur—concluded its annual learning cycle ahead of the summer break. The gathering featured a special breakfast and divrei chizuk delivered by Rabbi Chaim Shwartz, a visiting maggid shiur with Yorucha. In recognition of the chabura's consistency and leadership, Rabbi Shwartz presented the roshei chabura with a set of seforim authored by Harav Chaim Weg, Rosh Kollel at the Bais Havaad. | | Rabbi Chaim Schwartz presenting the maggeidei shiur with a set of seforim | | Rabbi Yosef Dovid Josolowsky Delivers Shiur to Manchester Chabura | The large and well-established Yorucha chabura in the Manchester community of New Jersey was privileged to host Rabbi Yosef Dovid Josolowsky for a shiur on the halachos of shlichus. Focusing on a common business scenario—when a shaliach or manager facilitates a deal and receives a benefit from the other party—Rabbi Josolowsky examined the question of who rightfully owns that gain. The shiur was delivered with clarity and depth, and Rabbi Josolowsky expressed his admiration for the engagement and seriousness of this distinguished chabura. | | | Global Shiurim: Rabbi Fried Delivers to Argentina Chabura | Tuesday the 17th of June, Rabbi Baruch Fried, Dayan and editor of the Yorucha curriculum, delivered a Zoom shiur to the Yorucha chabura in Argentina, who turned to the Bais Havaad for clarity on these complex halachic matters. The shiur focused on defining eligibility for charitable support and addressed the intricate question of whether one is obligated to surrender all their assets to save a life. Delivered with both clarity and depth, the session was a meaningful opportunity for the Bais Havaad to provide halachic guidance and education to a community from across the globe.
