Yesterday, a Hachnasas Sefer Torah was held l'iluy nishmas the esteemed woman Rachel, A"H — the wife of Rav Dovid (Duki) Greenwald, sheyibadel l'chaim tovim, and daughter of Rav Chaim Kramer, sheyibadel l'chaim tovim.

The Sefer Torah was dedicated and brought in by her dear son, Avigdor, sheyichye, who should merit, with Hashem's help, to soon become a chassan — very soon, Amen.

BRI PARSHAH TIDBITS

"You shall be wholehearted with HaShem your G-d." (Devarim 18:13)

Rashi explains: "Walk with Him in wholeheartedness, and place your hope in Him. Do not delve into the future…"

The great strength of Esav lies in probing into wisdom. The world is filled with inventions and remarkable forms of knowledge that are meant to serve humanity. Yet, when misused, all this wisdom becomes a tool to belittle true Divine wisdom and to conceal it. In other words, through worldly wisdom, Esav seeks to cover over the real wisdom - the wisdom of HaShem.

Wisdom is referred to as the bechorah - the birthright, the beginning point from which everything in the world branches out. The Torah testifies about Esav: "And Esav despised the birthright" - meaning that his entire way was to use earthly wisdom to obscure Divine wisdom, all for the sake of fulfilling his own desires.

The advice for us is temimus - simplicity and wholeheartedness: "You shall be wholehearted with HaShem your G-d, and do not seek out the future." This is the path of Yaakov, about whom it is written: "And Yaakov was an ish tam - a man of simplicity."

The power of the tzaddik gives us the ability to withstand this false wisdom - to even laugh at it. Just look around and see how the world is so utterly consumed with media to the point of madness, where people no longer notice what is truly happening with themselves. With the simplicity of compassion and the ability to laugh at this madness, one can be spared from it.

It is well known what is brought in Kochvey Or: "Nachman and Noson laugh at the whole world." The meaning is that they laugh at the insanity that Esav's false wisdom draws us into - and instead choose the path of Torah and mitzvos with simple sincerity.

May we merit to walk with temimus in the ways of HaShem. Amen.
