PARSHAT NITZAVIM September 19-20, 2025 / 27 Elul 5785 SPECIAL DAYS Rosh Hashanah begins Monday night, September 22, and is celebrated through Wednesday, September 24. Tzom Gedaliah is observed on Thursday, September 25. | | | FEATURED | | | | | Rosh Hashanah: Judgment and Understanding | Rosh Hashanah is marked by Jews everywhere as the Day of Judgment, when God considers and weighs the vice and virtue of every individual and nation, and of the world. In the wake of a year of unrelenting intensity surrounding Israel and the Jewish people, I find that deeply comforting. To be sure, it will not be easy, as standing before the all-knowing God must prompt serious reflection. We dare not insist on the virtue of all our choices, individual or national. Rather, we must honestly and humbly engage in the transformational process of teshuvah that Jewish tradition prescribes during this period – evaluating our actions, challenging our assumptions, identifying our failures, committing to radical change, if called for, and addressing areas needing improvement. We have made mistakes, and we must ask forgiveness of man and God. | | | | | | Torah Yerushalayim 5785 | | OU Israel | This week, OU Israel held its annual Torah Yerushalayim leil iyun, featuring a special tribute shiur reflecting on the legacy of Rabbi Berel Wein, zt"l, given by Rabbi Joel Kenigsberg. | | | | | | | | Exploring the Mitzvot and Minhagim of Rosh Hashanah | How are apples, pomegranates, and shofar blasts supposed to impact our Rosh Hashanah?
