This year was distinguished by pioneering initiatives, as the Bais HaVaad undertook transformative new endeavors to extend the reach of Torah education and its reach of halachic leadership across the globe.

Yoru Mishpatecha

This year saw the launch of Yoru Mishpatecha, a groundbreaking new program for Rabbanim, Poskim, and Bnei Torah to learn Choshen Mishpat at the highest level. Participants will follow a structured curriculum aligned with the Bais HaVaad's Kollel L'Dayanus, join weekly Zoom chaburos led by Bais HaVaad Dayanim, and gain direct access to the Kollel for guidance and discussion. Testing opportunities and Heter Hora'ah certification will accompany the program. With its ongoing development, the program's full range of opportunities is set to be introduced following Sukkos.

National Resolution Center

The Bais HaVaad established the National Resolution Center to provide a vital public service: a clear, efficient, and halachically sound path to resolving everyday disputes. Individuals from anywhere in the world can settle matters in a timely manner, via Zoom or in person, before a panel of expert Dayanim Mumchim. Each session concludes with a clear and authoritative psak din, restoring peace of mind and menuchas hanefesh.

Advanced Ribbis Hora'ah Training

This year marked the continuation of the Bais HaVaad's highly successful Ribbis Hora'ah program, under the leadership of Harav Pinchas Vind שליט״א, Rosh Beis Hora'ah L'Inyanei Ribbis of Yerushalayim and one of the leading Ribbis experts.

Over forty Rabbonim and yungerleit, already well-versed in the sugyos of Ribbis b'iyun, are utilizing this program to advance their hora'ah abilities in the complexities of modern-day finance.

Queens–Five Towns Initiative

The Bais HaVaad, in collaboration with local Rabbonim, launched the Queens–Five Towns Initiative to raise the level of business halacha knowledge and awareness across this region. The project was inaugurated on Labor Day with a shiur by Dayan Baruch Fried at K'hal Adas Yerayim, exploring "Striking in Halacha" and highlighting the halachic weight behind even seemingly simple decisions.

Subsequent shiurim followed: Dayan Moshe Zev Graneck delivered at the Sephardic Center of Hollis Hills, addressing fundamental monetary halachos with an emphasis on dinei ribbis; and most recently, Od Yosef Chai hosted Dayan Yosef Dovid Josolowsky on the halachos of cash advances, an event strongly attended with the participation of the Rav. The enthusiastic reception at each gathering reflects the strong communal appreciation for this endeavor.

Amongst the many new chaburos established this past year, Yorucha once again crossed borders, with new groups formed in Argentina, Brazil, Canada and Mexico.

A Second Seder Chabura, headed by Rabbi Boruch Schoss (chaver hakollel and editor of Yoru Mishpatecha), was launched for bnei aliyah concluding their workday and seeking serious limud before returning home. It began at Modular Closets' conference room and has since transitioned to the Beis Medrash at Cedar Woods.

Yorucha also introduced a testing option, generously sponsored by Mr. Yehuda Franks. At the completion of each topic, tests are now added to the portal, enabling lomdim to consolidate their mastery of the material.

Kollel Zichron Gershon continued its steady advancement in breadth and depth, reaching several milestones this year:

  • Hilchos Gittin Completed – The Even HaEzer chabura concluded Hilchos Gittin, marking a major step in advanced dayanus training.
  • New Choshen Mishpat Track – Designed to develop aspiring Dayanim through focused study and training.
  • Eruvin Chabura Launched – A new chabura on Hilchos Eruvin, led by Rav Mordechai Fuchs.

The Kollel's rigorous schedule continues to prepare its members for addressing intricate and timely halachic challenges.

Bais HaVaad Rabbonim delivered influential shiurim across the country this year:

  • Rav Dovid Grossman at Agudah Convention – Spoke to mental health professionals on "Charging for Missed Appointments."
  • Hakhel Shiur in Brooklyn – Delivered on Hilchos Yerusha in conjunction with the Daf Yomi completion of Yesh Nochlin and Mi SheMeis.
  • Rav Mordechai Fuchs at National Eruv Conference – Addressed halachic and practical issues in establishing and maintaining city eruvin.
  • Rav Eliezer Gewirtzman at LRRC/LSJ Event – Joined Rabbi Moshe Hauer and Naftali Horowitz in discussing Torah perspectives on responsible money management.
  • Rav Yehoshua Wolfe at Agudas Yisroel Weekly Shiur – Shared insights on Hilchos Bais Din from his decade as Menahel of the Bais HaVaad's Bais Din.
  • Rabbi Baruch Fried at Mechon L'Smicha – Simicha Event – Presented on "Building a Torah-True World" at their Yom Iyun.

This year was marked by the publication of several important new seforim authored by Bais HaVaad's Rabbonim, each a significant contribution to the world of halacha and Torah scholarship:

  • Moadim Li'Zmanim – by Rav Chaim Weg. A landmark two-volume contribution exploring halacha and aggada of the yomim tovim.
  • Peirush Arpilei Tohar – by Dayan Moshe Zev Granik. A masterful exposition on the intricacies of tumah and taharah.
  • Biur on Chafetz Chaim – by Rabbi Grunwald. A concise and accessible presentation of the Chafetz Chaim's rulings for the contemporary lomeid.
  • Pischei Aruch Hashulchan – by Dayan Eliezer Cohen. An abridged edition of the Aruch Hashulchan on Choshen Mishpat, elegantly arranged into daily learning segments for clarity and comprehensive mastery.

Sefer Torah for the Bais HaVaad

The Bais HaVaad was honored to begin the writing of a Sefer Torah. The project commenced with the Posek Hador, Harav Moshe Shternbuch שליט״א, and Harav Naftali Nussbaum שליט״א — one of the Gedolei HaDayanim and a member of the Bais HaVaad's Nesius — writing the first osiyos. The Gedolim bestowed their heartfelt brachos upon the project and upon the Bais HaVaad as a whole.

Chabura Research Center Dedicated by the Bassan Family

The Bais HaVaad is honored to mark the dedication of the Chabura Research Center in memory of Nessim A. Bassan ע״ה. Sponsored by his sons, Alberto and Isaac Bassan of Panama, the center serves as a setting for shiurim and a venue for advanced Torah study and research, fostering the development of higher-level scholarship.

Distinguished Rabbonim at the Bais HaVaad

The Bais HaVaad is continuously graced throughout the year by distinguished Rabbonim and talmidei chachamim, whose presence and words of Torah bring inspiration to the kehilla and all associated with the Bais HaVaad. Most recently, Horav Reuven Feinstein שליט״א delivered a shiur open to the kehilla and the public at large, and Harav Bentzion Kokis שליט״א delivered a stirring drasha preceding the opening Selichos. These visits exemplify the kehilla's unique role as a gathering place where elevated Torah leadership meets the community in a spirit of guidance and chizuk.

Culminating the First Tier of Yorucha's Two-Tier Curriculum

As in previous years, the Bais HaVaad continued to provide vital year-round services to address the needs of the broader tzibur, including:

  • Mechiras Chametz – Facilitating the sale of chametz for hundreds of families, either through convenient walk-in appointments or via online arrangements, ensuring proper fulfillment before Pesach.
  • Matanos L'Evyonim – Coordinating the distribution of funds on Purim, both locally and in Eretz Yisroel, to ensure proper fulfillment of this mitzvah.
  • Dalet Minim Inspection – Availing countless hours of rotating Rabbonim to inspect dalet minim, enabling the tzibur to perform the mitzvah with hiddur.
