Introduction
The Gemara brings several sources that a person can appoint an agent who can act in his stead. At the same time, the principal retains the ability to retract his authorization at any time, provided that he does so prior to the agent fulfilling his agency.
Points to Ponder
• Does the appointment or cancellation of a shaliach require a kinyan?
• Are there criteria or requirements for a person to appoint an agent or be appointed as an agent?
• Can an appointed agent change his mind and buy the intended item for himself?
• If an agent is given money to make a purchase, but tells the seller that he is purchasing it for himself, who owns the item?
