Subject: [chicago-aneinu] Please Say your Tehillim on Shabbos
BS"D
Dear Aneinu Members,
Dear Aneinu Members,
In a discussion about the Surfside tragedy, Rabbi YY Jacobson points out that the Daf Yomi that will be learned this Shabbos discusses what to do if a building collapses. In Yuma, page 83, the Mishna says that when a building collapses you never give up searching for survivors. Even if it is Shabbos, or even Yom Kippur, if there is the slightest glimmer of hope of a survivor, you continue to work to remove the rubble. Even if you don't know if anyone is there under the rubble, you continue searching. This is what our Torah teaches the world, the infinite value of a human soul.
In a discussion between family members of the missing and the Israeli search team, the question was asked, at what point do we give up hope? Colonel Golan Vach answered that in other searches they have found survivors even after 17 days. He was adamant that they are not giving up. The fact that it has rained so much in Florida means that there is drinking water available for possible survivors. There is a Hakadosh Baruch Hu and they have seen miracles far beyond our ability to comprehend. Joseph Dahan, Director of Hatzalah in Miami-Dade related that the Israeli search team has brought the search for survivors to a whole different level. The synergy of the team, the level of knowledge, and professionalism of these incredible individuals who are working from the depths of their hearts is immeasurable and has given the families much chizuk. In the midst of unfathomable tragedy, we are witnessing a tremendous kiddush Hashem.
Remember to have all of the missing and their families in mind when you say your Tehillim this Shabbos.
Please check the Shabbos Tehillim spreadsheet if you are unsure which kappitlach you signed up for.
Wishing you all a peaceful Shabbos,
Chaya Miriam
