Please have extra Kavanah (concentration) for the situation in Ukraine.
Wednesday, June 1 –
Tehillim 97
According to Ibn Yachya, Moshe Rabbeinu wrote this perek with the tribe of Yosef in mind. Yehoshua came from this tribe and was the one to bring the Jewish Nation into Eretz Yisrael. This is perhaps what the first verse is referring to when it says, "When Hashem will reign, the earth will exult…". The "earth" refers to the Land of Israel. The Land will be happy when the Jewish People enter into the Eretz Yisrael.
This psalm can also be understood as a very upbeat psalm describing the future days when Hashem will be the supreme power and nations of the world will also recognize His majesty.
Segula for this perek: For one that wishes to bring happiness to his household. (Same as last perek) (From the Sefer Shimush Tehillim attributed to Rav Hai Gaon (969 -1038).)
1. When Hashem will reign, the earth will exult; many islands will rejoice.
2. Cloud and thick darkness are around Him; righteousness and judgment are the foundation of His throne.
3. Fire will go before Him and will burn His enemies all around.
4. His lightnings illuminated the world; the earth saw and quaked.
5. Mountains melted like wax from before Hashem, from before the Master of all the earth.
6. The heavens told His righteousness, and all the earth saw His glory.
7. All worshippers of graven images will be ashamed, yea those who boast of idols; all gods, prostrate yourselves before Him.
8. Zion heard and rejoiced, and the daughters of Judah exulted, because of Your judgments, Hashem.
9. For You, Hashem, are Most High above all the earth; You are very much exalted above all gods.
10. You who love Hashem, hate evil; He watches the souls of His pious ones, He rescues them from the hands of the wicked.
11. A light is sown for the righteous, and for the upright of heart, joy.
12. Rejoice, you righteous, with Hashem, and give thanks to His holy name.
