YOU can give gifts to the Rebbe! |
During the Farbrengen in 5739, the Rebbe related that in 5707/1947 Chassidim prepared gifts for the Frierdiker Rebbe in honor of his wedding anniversary (13 Elul 5657/1897). The Rebbe, then serving as the director of Kehos, presented to the Frierdiker Rebbe a newly printed book each day of the anniversary of Sheva Brochos. The Rebbe emphasized the great Nachas this gave the Frierdiker Rebbe. So too, when a special milestone anniversary for the Rebbe and Rebbetzin was approaching, Chassidim around the world would make good resolutions in connection with the respective number, and it was apparent to all that the Rebbe derived tremendous Nachas from it. |

YOU can learn the Rebbe's Torah! |
Throughout the years in 770, Yud Daled Kislev was a very joyous day. Starting from Yud Daled Kislev in 5714 when the Rebbe first spoke about the day openly coining it (the now-famous phrase), "This is the day that connected me to you and you to me". Year after year the Chassidim around the world would celebrate the day and make good resolutions in connection with the number anniversary, and it was apparent to all that the Rebbe derived tremendous Nachas from it. During the historic Farbrengen of Yud Daled Kislev 5739, the 50th wedding anniversary, the Rebbe explained the nature of the Farbrengen, read an English overview of the Sicha here. |

YOU can join a Farbrengen! |
During that same Farbrengen, the Rebbe also discussed the idea of having a Farbrengen on this day: "In this country, it is common practice that when one celebrates a significant number of years since his wedding day, he holds a gathering for his relatives and friends. Our Chachomim tells us that when one enters into a city, he is to follow its practices. Hence, we hold this Farbrengen in accordance with the above instructions…" |

Rabbi Dovid Raskin, chairman of the Lubavitch Youth Organization, wrote a report to the Rebbe following a Chassidishe Farbrengen held in honor of the Rebbe's 50th anniversary. The Rebbe's reply was, "Surprisingly dancing which has been mentioned many times regarding [the wedding] is not mentioned here!" |

On Yud Daled Kislev 5739 (1978), the 50th anniversary the Rebbe started the Farbrengen by saying that it is the custom in this and other countries that: In the day of an anniversary, family and friends gather to celebrate and rejoice together… The central Yud Daled Kislev will take place at the Ohel on Monday night, Yud Daled Kislev at 10:00 pm. The Farbrengen will be broadcasated live at Chabad.org/OrVechom. |
