We're excited to announce that the Lamm Legacy blog is now live!
Our inaugural post, by Rabbi Dr. Zev Eleff, president of Gratz College, revisits the so-called "caveman controversy" and shows that Rabbi Lamm had begun articulating the key themes at the heart of the debate in his 1997 RIETS centennial address – and engaging Rav Mordechai Gifter on these issues – nearly three decades earlier.
In 1973, Rabbi Lamm was shocked to learn that a Jewish newspaper had run a Christian missionary ad. In a letter to the editor, he issued this scathing rebuke.
On April 15, 2002, at the height of the Second Intifada, there was a massive pro-Israel march on Washington, D.C. The Agudath Yisroel chose not to participate. In response, the Bostoner Rebbe wrote this critical letter, for which Rabbi Lamm congratulated him.
