"'Is he not rightly called Yaakov — for he has supplanted me twice?'" (Bereishis 27:36).

Rashi explains that Esav meant: This is why he was given the name Yaakov — because in the end he would outmaneuver me.
Onkelos, however, translates the word וַיַּעְקְבֵנִי as 'and he outwitted me' (ve-chakimeni).

Esav's claim is very puzzling. What does he mean that "now he is called Yaakov because in the future he would supplant me"? Haven't they been calling him Yaakov from the moment he came into the world? Whether the name was given by HaKadosh Baruch Hu or by Yitzchak, as Rashi brings, that was always his name. So what suddenly causes Esav now to complain about this?

According to Torah 1 of Likutey Moharan, it is truly wondrous.
Esav lives entirely in the "here and now" - the AI, the immediate impulse. He feels hungry, so he instantly sells the birthright. Its essence is chochmah, wisdom - yet he despises it completely. His entire life is nothing but chasing the satisfaction of his present desires.

Yaakov, on the other hand, is entirely oriented toward receiving wisdom - the bechorah. He tried to take it already at the moment he emerged from the womb, and for that very reason he was given the name Yaakov from the outset.

Now, when Yitzchak blesses Yaakov, suddenly Esav realizes that even Olam HaZeh isn't really his. There is something far deeper and more inward at play. One must look at the chochmah and inner purpose of everything in creation - why it was made, and how it can be used to serve HaShem.

This is a long, lifelong avodah. Life is not just about fulfilling passing desires and momentary gratification. In that moment, Esav essentially admitted that his entire path was mistaken - and that a single wrong perspective can drive a person into confusion and complete spiritual collapse.

Rebbe Nachman also teaches us the remedy:
To recognize that Esav exists within us, and to cry out to HaShem, begging Him to help us know—in everything we go through—that we are dependent on H
