Dear Chana,
I am pleased to invite you to a deeply personal and timely new Chabura, Battlefront Halacha: Reflections and Dilemmas from Gaza, a journey into the halachic questions I confronted while serving with the IDF in Gaza during the recent war.
Over these weeks, I hope to share not only the complex halachic issues that arise in the fog of battle, pikuach nefesh, Hilchot tefillah and Shabbat, and more, but also the inner world of a soldier striving to live as a ben Torah amidst the harsh realities of war. Together, we will learn from the classical sources, explore modern responsa, and reflect on the moral, emotional, and spiritual weight of these dilemmas through the lens of lived experience.
Wednesdays at 8:00 PM (followed by Maariv at 9:00 PM)
Location: Kehilat Chovevei Tzion, 9220 Crawford Ave., Skokie
Begins: Wednesday, October 29
This Chabura is part of the Community Beit Midrash at Kehilat Chovevei Tzion, in partnership with the YU Torah Mitzion Kollel of Chicago. All are welcome, no background is required, and I encourage you to bring friends who may be interested.
At this moment in Jewish history, when the fate and future of Am Yisrael weighs so heavily on our hearts, may our learning be a source of strength, clarity, and zechut for our soldiers and for all of Klal Yisrael.
I look forward to learning together.
Warmly,
