Dear Alumni and Friends,

After a rejuvenating Sukkos break, our campuses are once again buzzing with the sound of Torah and the energy of a new zman. We're excited to return to our regular learning schedule and build on the momentum of the Yamim Tovim.

We were grateful to celebrate a joyous Sukkos together—with uplifting news for Am Yisrael and spirited Simchas Torah dancing at the JCC that brought our community together in true achdus.

We're excited to launch our HTC103 campaign and invite all Yeshiva fathers, grandfathers, alumni, and supporters to join us for our upcoming Melave Malka & Kumzitz with R' Baruch Levine next Motzei Shabbos, November 8th! This event, hosted by Eitan and Avigail Schechter is sure to be filled with soulful niggunim, great food and achdus to inspire and uplift. Also, please save the date for our upcoming HTC103 gala on January 6th, 2026!

Wishing everyone a successful and inspiring month ahead!

Warm regards,

Rabbi Shmuel L. Schuman

CEO, HTC

Tell us a little bit about your family:

I'm married to Avital with 4 kids.

What is your favorite memory/(memories) from FYHS/HTC/Kayitz: On our senior trip, we had a kumzitz, and in a moment of inspiration, I decided to switch from attending the University of Maryland to YU to be in a more Torah environment. Also, my senior year, I moved into Ben Jacobson's house in West Rogers Park to work on the Purim shpiel and yearbook for 3 months, and the dorm counselors didn't even notice!.

Please share a lesson/takeaway from your time at FYHS/HTC/Kayitz:The investment the Rebbeim put into the students is very special. There is a strong bond with the Yeshiva guys wherever we end up. Even here in Cleveland, we have that group of alumni that is talking about the Yeshiva with pride.

Advice for current students:

Take advantage of your time at the Yeshiva and get close to the rebbeim. I'm still in touch with many of them.

Anything else to share:

Have fun. Take advantage now of all they have to offer. Life is going to get crazy. Enjoy your time.

Divrei Torah from Alumni and Rebbeim

Avraham's Mission

By Reuven Kirshner

Adam failed to listen to Hashem and was banished from Gan Eden. Noach was a tzaddik but failed to help other people find Hashem. He was saved due to his righteousness, but the world was not. The world was reborn, but Noach's piety didn't last and he became an אִישׁ אֲדָמָ, focusing on his vineyards more than his connection to Hashem. Most people in those 20 or so generations were mentioned to have lived and died without accomplishing anything worth noting, until Avraham.

Hagar's Ordeal

By Rabbi Chaim Twerski

As we learn about Hagar's relationship with Sarah, several questions arise. 1) One must wonder how such a righteous woman as Sarah had it within her to cause her maidservant to suffer so much that she had to flee from her home. 2) Why did the angel refer to her as "the maidservant of Sarah" after addressing her by name? 3) Why did the angel ask her where she was coming from and where she was going? The angel surely knew this. 4) Why did the angel tell her to return only to suffer under Sarah?
