Introduction

There are two primary aspects to the study of Torah – the active study itself, and the attaining of

Torah knowledge until we are fluent in it. Both of these pursuits are limited by our capabilities and by

the time we have available, and a person must choose what to learn in the time that he has.

Points to Ponder

• If a person studies Torah but does not retain it, has he fulfilled the mitzvah of learning Torah?

• Is it preferable to learn bekiyus, faster paced and more superficial, or b'iyun, slower and more in-depth?

• Are learning programs such as Daf Yomi a good option for people who have limited time?

• Should a person focus on practical halacha as opposed to Gemara?
